EDI Implementation Image

We have specialised in EDI Implementations, since working with Compaq Computer EMEA in 1998 to setup their first European Customers on an EDIFACT based set of messages. This involved alot of internal education so that the various European subsidiaries could 'sell' this concept to their customers and then kick-off meetings following then with the specification, co-ordinating the development work with the headoffice in Houston and then testing, implementing and supporting the flows once live.

Since then, we have also worked with Tech Data / Computer 2000 in many roles which involved EDI implementations with Customers, Vendors and Carriers mainly into their SAP R/3 system on a European-wide basis. We performed the standard EDI Implementation tasks of liasing with the trading partners, kick-off meetings, specifying the mappings, coordinating the development then testings and supporting the live flows. Additionally, we were responsible for developing the mappings on a TTO TradeXpress translator system, increasing the percentage of Customers using EDI (Edifact, Tradacoms and XML) and performed the local user training for using the amended procedures within SAP R/2 and SAP R/3.

Most recently, we have been working with the ABX and their DSV worldwide subsidiaries as Trading Partners, initially defining Edifact transport message guidelines then implementing the flows in the BizTalk environment. We also worked on their new ESB solution, defining a standard set of XML CDM Messages and specifying the mappings from and to this format from various internal systems. We also worked on a Master Data Management project, exchanging XML format files with a web based portal and also with SAP using the BizTalk SAP Adapter.

Business Analysis

Understanding the business is one of the most important parts of EDI Implementations. We have many years Business Analysis experience, not only in understanding and designing interfaces into ERP and Transport systems for the EDI Implementations but also prior to this in Fuel Card, Insurance and Property Management systems.

Microsoft BizTalk Server

In the last role, we worked exclusively with BizTalk 2006, administering the BizTalk environment itself and supporting the existing EDIFACT, Flatfile and XML based flows. We worked together with the worldwide HQ and subsidiaries, designing and implementing flows for customers, and for internal interfaces, for example a set of messages interfacing to the Manhattan WMS System. We also used BizTalk to implement XML interfaces to a web based portal for mantaining Master Data which was then inetrfaced with the SAP R/3 system.

SAP R/3

We have spent many years working with SAP - initially R/2 and then R/3 - including defining the requirements for the upgrade from an EDI perspective. We suuported the EDI aspects of each of the European subsidiary rollouts and defined necessary changes to the ABAP programs used for the custom processing of the IDOCs. We had to use the MM, SD and FI modules extensively for setting up and testing of the EDI flows with the Trading Partners.

Project Management Screen

In many of the organisations we have worked in we used standard procedures for project management including PRINCE 2. Project management is also something that we used heavily within EDI Implementations - both at a single trading partner level as well as within a much larger European rollout plan.
